Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: An imprisoned man, Yunus Ali, of age 28 years old, was charged with murdering a couple who were his next-door neighbours in Cedros.
A 28-year-old was sentenced on Tuesday for the murders of Krishna Ramdeen, 63 and his wife Indra, 57.
Reportedly, almost ten years after an elderly Cedros couple was brutally murdered in their home, a neighbour who is already sentenced for another murder charge.
Ali, who was also known as “Son Son”, lived next door to the Ramdeens in Fullerton Village.
If sources are to be believed, it is considered that on Wednesday, Ali was charged via a warrant as he is currently in prison, where he is remanded on another murder case for which he was initially summoned in July this year.
In that case, the body of a 28-year-old victim named Tevin Francois was discovered with multiple chop wounds on June 28 on McKenzie Road, Heritage Field Road in Point Fortin.
He was found murdered along a read road just off the Oil Fields Road in Point Fortin. Notably, apart from Ali, 21-year-old Kareem Balgobin was jointly charged with murdering Francois.
Francois was beaten on the night of his 27th birthday, and his body was dumped after he was accused of stealing the purse of a woman.
It is to be added in the remarks of the police that Ali spoke about the double homicide of the Ramdeens while on remand, and officials of the Homicide Bureau of Region Three (3) managed to bring answers to the Cedros family, who have been appealing to justice from years.
On Tuesday, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) gave the green light to the homicide detectives to lay charges against Yunus Ali.
Notably, the charges regarding the murders of the Ramdeen couple will also be read to him on December 4, after a 28-year-old reappears in the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court for the Francois murder hearing.
The elderly couple was killed in a cutlass stack during a home invasion and robbery in January 2014.
Police highlighted that the killer entered through a window in the bedroom, which did not have burglar-proofing, which was engaged by an ailing and bed-ridden Krishna.
It is to be noted that the elderly man suffered a chop wound to the head, and Indra also suffered multiple chop injuries; however, she died after she was strangled with a cord.
