West Indies defeated England by four wickets in the first T20 match at Kensington Oval, Barbados, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl.

England’s batting performance:

England’s openers, Phil Salt and Jos Butler, played decent innings of 40 and 39 runs in 20 and 31 balls, respectively. Phil Salt hit six fours and one six, while the captain, Jos Butler, hit five fours and one six. Will Jacks and Ben Duckett contributed 17 and 14 runs, respectively.

Liam Livingstone scored 27 runs in 19 balls, hitting one four and two sixes at a strike rate of 142.11.

West Indies Batting Performance:

Openers Brandon King and Kyle Mayers contributed 22 and 35 runs, respectively. Captain Rovman Powell played an unbeaten inning of 31 runs at a strike rate of 206.67, hitting three fours and two sixes.

Shai Hope scored 36 runs in 30 balls with two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 120.

Andre Russell played a brilliant innings of 29 runs, unbeaten, including two fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 207.14.

England Bowling Performance:

Despite the best efforts of the English bowlers, West Indies managed to reach the target with 11 balls remaining and won the match by four wickets.
