WASA issues advisory due to water disruption in Central Trinidad
WASA shared that the people of Central Trinidad will experience a disruption in their water supply, served by the Freeport Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday due to planned maintenance work.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: WASA shared that the people of Central Trinidad will experience a disruption in their water supply, served by the Freeport Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday due to planned maintenance work.
The interruption in water supply is the result of the planned maintenance work which is expected to be completed by 5:00 pm on the same day (Wednesday). The work will disturb the supply of water between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
The Water and Sewerage Authority issued an advisory and urged people to be prepared as there will be no shortage of water in the parts of Central Trinidad. However, there is a possibility that the supply may take up to 24 hours to normalize in some affected areas.
The areas which are going to be affected by the work are as follows,
- Preysal
- Balmain
- Calcutta #1 #2
- Freeport Todd’s Road
- Brasso & Pepper Village
- Gran Couva
- San Pedro and environs
- Chickland and environs
- Tortuga
- Mayo
- Siewdass Road
Further, the public is asked to reach out to the helpline number of WASA in case of any query. The authorities have assured the affected customers that they have assigned a team to address the challenge through ongoing maintenance efforts.
The people across the region took to their social media handles (Facebook) to express their frustration regarding the disruption in water supply on every alternate day.
While reacting to the news, a person named Selena Rooplal commented, “But we only get water once a week. If it come Monday, it coming Tuesday the next week. N so they go. Very frustrating.”
Another FB user, by the name of Stephanie Pandohie, wrote, “We done don’t get water…Nothing now! They hadda advertise when they actually giving people water.”
Moreover, some people already facing the issue of water supply disruption in other areas as well. A person named Vikki Ann shared, “I’m from Freeport and we haven’t had water since last Wednesday…most frustrated.”
Another citizen, named Jasoda Thakurdeen reacted, “No water in Diamond Village San Fernando 3 weeks now and counting.”
Additionally, the authorities expect citizens to cooperate with them and they are trying everything in their power to support their citizens.
