Saint Lucia: The United Workers Party (UWP) denounces the blatantly misleading press statement published by the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP).
Their statement that the coronavirus protocols were set to expire on January 31, 2021, is false from the outset. In fact, according to Statutory Instrument #11 of 2021, the “Order expires on February 1, 2021.”
Prime Minister of St Lucia, Allen Chastanet, was on an inspection tour of the situation as it existed on the ground and observed the application of coronavirus protocols. He took the chance to distribute masks and practice hands-on and personal access to leading from the front in this mess.
In the fluid condition which exists with the coronavirus pandemic, the Prime Minister has had to estimate and re-valuate, as the situation on the ground is fluid and can modify at any time.
Rest guaranteed that any changing timelines are individual to evaluate new information and the formulation of well-advised choices.
This UWP government has always been centered on making better of the healthcare situation, which it received from the last administration.
The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has failed to work hand-in-hand with this administration to fight against the lethal Coronavirus from the inception.
A NEMAC meeting is cataloged for Tuesday, February 2, after a weekend of meetings and discussions to guide upcoming COVID-19 protocols.
Furthermore, they appealed, “We request the SLP to stop playing politics at a time when we are confronted with a global pandemic. Let us all truly put St. Lucians first. Together we can win this war.”
On the other hand, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet joined in the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College held its 34th Graduation Ceremony.
Due to this lethal coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony had to be held virtually for the over 600 graduates who finished their Associate Degree, Diploma, and Certificate programs.
Moreover, PM stated, “It is a new and challenging world; however, it remains a world filled with novel and emerging opportunities.”
