Trinidad and Tobago: Opposition Leader, UNC Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar is questioning National Security Minister ‘Stuart Young‘ to answer which law gives him the authority and power to revoke or grant citizens the ‘Right to Enter‘ Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the Constitution, It is clear that a citizen who lands here cannot be dismissed the ‘right to entry.’
Addressing on a virtual election campaign pulpit, Opposition UNC Leader, Persad-Bissessar illuminated that she was neither jealous nor envious that the Prime Minister’s daughter, the Attorney General’s son, MPs ministers, and their families were allowed exemptions.
UNC Leader also declared, some inhabitants have been stranded overseas for ten months since the border was blocked due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic, while picked people have been given exceptions for themselves and their loved ones to fly in and out. According to her, this is unfair and very discriminatory. This is a violation of Democracy. It is unbearable and not be accepted further.
UNC Leader questioned, “Which enactment in this nation gave this one man (Stuart Young) this authority to forbid citizens to come back homeland, when the Constitution says no citizen must be suspended from entering nation?”
Encapsulated, she stated, “The truth will come out, No matter how much you obstruct, just like we discovered about Delcy, we will discover about others too.”
Public’s Opinion on this Act!
A Facebook user commented, “End it Madame PM and implemented border control instead of the border closure. I believe this was implemented to prevent nationals from exercising their civic duty to vote. Unfortunately, the system does not allow for options other than physically going to a polling booth. What’s provision is there for disabled persons or those residing abroad and want to vote.”
Another user wrote, “All foreign nationals who want to come home, citizens and dual returning citizens, let’s unite raise a fund and sue this hard head dotish minister of national security Young and his Government, we will sue for pain and suffering which will amount to millions of Dollars. Please don’t delay; let’s act today.”
The question raised by UNC Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar can open several people’s eyes to the violation of laws that are made to protect the public, not to discard them.
