UWI St. Augustine University of Trinidad and Tobago has advised the students and staff to stay at their homes and attend the online classes due to the rough weather in the island country.

Trinidad and Tobago: UWI St. Augustine University of Trinidad and Tobago has advised the students and staff to stay at their homes and attend the online classes due to the rough weather in the island country.
Campus Management of the University has decided to allow online delivery of all classes and tutorials via Zoom for the remainder of this week, October 6th and 7th.
Deans and Heads are asked to make arrangements for staff to work remotely as there will be limited access to the campus except for essential and support services, including all Maintenance Technicians for faculties and departments, Engineering Services, Campus Security Services, Health Services Unit (HSU), Occupational Health Safety and Environment Unit (OHSE) and the Division of Facilities Management (DFM).
The management further thanked the students and staff members, for the attention and urged to stay tuned for further updates as the weather department is monitor the weather situation.
Weather Conditions in Trinidad and Tobago:
Riverine Flood Alert #1 – Yellow Level, the danger of the flood is expected will October 7, 2022, 5:00 pm
Description: After today’s rainfall event, river levels of the major watercourses across Trinidad continue to rise and are currently near 80% capacity. Weather conditions have since settled; however occasional periods of heavy showers are likely. This additional rainfall, in combination with spring tides, can keep the river levels elevated, and there is a moderate risk to public safety, livelihood and property. Fewer water courses over Trinidad and Tobago are also elevated and can burst their banks with additional rainfall.
Instructions: Carefully monitor weather conditions and river/water levels. Watch the updates and plan the day accordingly, including emergency supplies of food and water. Do not take unnecessary risks. Follow the instructions of government officials.
Area Description: Major watercourses of Trinidad, including the North Oropouche, Caroni and South Oropouche. Watercourses in Tobago, including the Crooks and Darrell spring rivers.
