St Vincent and the Grenadines: The nation is all set to host the inaugural International Music Festival in October this year, says Carlo James, the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Notably, the announcement was made by the tourism minister while addressing the State of the Tourism Industry Address on Tuesday at the Cruise Ship Terminal in Kingstown.
While addressing the State of Tourism 2024 conference, Carlo James shed light on the suitable time for the commencement of the Music Festival. He stated that due to the expected increase in visitor arrivals and the introduction of more airlines to the destination, the conditions are ideal for the launching of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Music Festival.
Moreover, the island nation will witness the return and electrifying performances of international artists. This International Music Festival will also play a pivotal role in attracting a large number of tourists.
Minister Carlo James asserted that the music festival will create a global platform for all the local creatives and performers to share the stage with international artists. It will also benefit local creatives by gaining regional recognition, which can play a crucial role in boosting their careers.
The tourism minister also mentioned the success of the One Family Concert. The Concert took place on 1 August 2023 at Victoria Park. It was conducted to celebrate Emancipation Day and 50 years of CARICOM, which attracted thousands of people and visitors to the nation.
The Concert featured over 20 of the best artists and their bands throughout the region and St Vincent and the Grenadines. The show highlighted the vibrant culture of the island nation.
Therefore, the International Music Festival will also drive more tourists to the destination as the island prepares for year-round flights and visitor arrivals.
Minster James stated that “the destination has in the past hosted Rhythm and Blues Festivals, the international music festival will see a greater level of involvement from local creatives as part of the programme.”
The International Music Festival will serve as a catalyst for enhancing the tourism sector and economic growth of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
