St Vincent and the Grenadines: The meteorological department informed, a low-level trough encroaches on the islands; expectedly, the upper-level environment would be supportive.
The department further stated that the sky would be filled with skies, and St Vincent and the Grenadines might witness moderate to heavy showers and periods of rain. The meteorological department further warned that the nation might witness isolated thunderstorms during the next few days.
St Vincent and the Grenadines would witness the thunderstorm by midweek across the Southern Windward Islands, including SVG.
As per the latest information shared by the weather forecast department, SVG would receive rainfall accumulations of 75 – 125 millimetres (approximately 3-5 inches), and mountains would reportedly witness more heavy rainfall in the next 24-72 hours.
Following such a heavy rainfall for the time span of 24-72 hours, the meteorological department has issued an upgraded flood advisory from a low risk of flooding to a flash-flood one. The department has further asked the residents not to panic and wait until further notice from the Government.
While warning the residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams, the department said that the residents and motorists near the flood-prone area should exercise extreme caution.”
As per the Government of St Vincent and Grenadines, a flood watch is issued when conditions are favourable, and there exists the possibility of flooding during the watch period, and a flash-flood watch may be upgraded to a warning if conditions warrant.
