St Lucian Deputy PM Hillarie notifies about ongoing projects

St Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister as well as Member of Parliament for Castries South and Member of Cabinet Ernest Hillarie met the constituents nearby the hospital at the La Toc Road and discussed the land as well as housing issues.

He further assured every St Lucian that the government had been committed to ensuring safe and protected livelihoods. Deputy Prime Minister Hillarie shared information on various ongoing projects in St Lucia.

Firstly, the MP for Castries South mentioned the review meeting of the Fond St Jacques Agro Tourism Park Project in Soufriere. He was accompanied by the Parliamentary Representative of the constituency and many other government officials.

While sharing the benefits of the project, Ernest notified, “This project is aimed at giving local and international tourists the chance to have natural, local experiences from soil to palette, along with other authentic community adventures and experiences.”

He further expressed joy and stated that projects like this would encourage every St Lucian to own tourism products.

“I am happy to endorse and support projects like this as it allows for more Saint Lucians to own the tourism product and encourage local entrepreneurship. It also builds into the basic philosophy that underpins the Community Tourism Development Bill that we passed in the house yesterday,” MP for Castries South mentioned.

Deputy Prime Minister Ernest presented the Community Tourism Development Bill on March 9, 2022 (Wednesday). The bill will establish the Community Tourism Programme to enhance the greater participation and ownership of Saint Lucians in the tourism industry by offering authentic local experiences.

Furthermore, Ernest notified that the government of St Lucia had commenced the rehabilitation of the Barre St Joseph Road. He added that the government has listened to the citizens’ demands of the constituency and dedicated this project to the resident of Barre St Joseph. This road will be according to the requirements of the residents.

However, he further stated that this is one of many projects to come for Castries South.
