St Lucia: Gasoline price increases from $3.29 to $3.51 per litre, kerosene remains unchanged

St Lucia: The Ministry of Commerce has informed the general public that from April 11, 2022, the charges for gasoline, diesel, LPG 20, 22 and 100 lb cylinders prices would witness a hike. On Monday, the residents of St Lucia have used the fuel at an increased price.

The price of these petroleum products has witnessed an increase because of the change in the prices of international oil prices.

However, the price of kerosene remained unchanged.

While informing the same, the Ministry of Commerce stated, “The general public is hereby informed that in maintaining with changes in international oil prices & Government’s application of the modified market pass-through pricing of petroleum mechanism, the retail price of gasoline, diesel, LPG 20, 22 and 100 lb cylinders has changed. The retail price of kerosene remains unchanged.”

Minister further brief about the ‘new’ fuel prices in the region.

The changed fuel prices are as follows:

Gasoline: Cost of price witnessed a hike from $3.29 to $3.51 per litre or from $14.95 to $15.95 per gallon.
Kerosene: The price of the fuel remains unchanged at $2.33 per litre or $10.57 per gallon.
Diesel: The price increased from $3.29 to $3.51 per litre or from $14.95 to $15.95 per gallon.

The changed cylinder prices are as follows:

The 20-pound cylinder (9.07 kg): The cost increased from $35.46 to $39.81 per cylinder.
The 22 Pound Cylinder (9.98 kg): The Price witnessed an increase from $39.01 to $43.79 per cylinder.
The 100 Pound Cylinder (45.36kg): The cost increased from $266.43 to $309.89 per cylinder.

The Commerce Minister has informed that the next adjustment of the retail price of fuel products will be on Monday, May 2, 2022.

After the price increase, Prime Minister Philip J Pierre expressed concern over the increase the fuel prices in the region. “We can’t control fuel prices,” he told the media personnel, adding that the cost has been going up in every country.
