St Kitts and Nevis to facilitate 43rd meeting of CROSQ

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis is ready to host the 43rd meeting of the Council of Directors of the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards & Quality (CROSQ) from October 9 to 10, 2023.

The two-day high-level meeting is being held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

The CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards & Quality is a regional centre promoting effective and reasonable production of goods and services. This goal can be achieved through the process of standardization and the authentication of the quality of the products.

Opening ceremony of CROSQ:

The opening ceremony of the 43rd meeting of CROSQ was held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on October 9 in the presence of the CEO of CROSQ- Mr. Deryck Omar. He was accompanied by-

• Director of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards
•  Mr. Stuart LaPlace
• Minister of International Trade
• Dr Denzil Douglas

The stakeholders are supposed to learn the new initiatives and projects of CROSQ that are going on.

It further aims to enhance and expand the quality of the infrastructure in the region through financial and technical support.

Remarks of Dr Denzil Douglas in the meeting:

The Minister responsible for the St Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards, Dr Denzil Douglas, attended the first day of the meeting. Dr Douglas held the meeting as a testament to their collective dedication to ensure the standards and quality of infrastructure as their main regional agenda.

Dr Douglas focused on modifying St Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island state. He urged the Cabinet to assemble the youth of the nation as an integral part of the budget preparation exercises. It will reflect the strong belief of the young generation in this journey to achieve and maintain optimal productivity.

He added a strong message regarding connectivity between the relevant international recognition, standards and the progress of the country towards a sustainable future.

He stated the need for appropriate standards and international recognition to transform the country into an advanced and sustainable island.

This meeting gave an opportunity to all the attendees of St Kitts and Nevis as an essential platform to cultivate collaboration and partnerships towards securing and developing the productivity and quality of the region on a global stage.
