St Kitts and Nevis: Sherry Tross has officially announced the beginning of her regime as St Kitts and Nevis’s Ambassador to the Republic of Panama on March 29, 2022. She presented her credentials to President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen to mark the commencement of her tenure.
The ceremony was organized at the President’s official residence in Panama – Palacio de las Garzas. The participants of the event included the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama, Erika Mouynes.
In 2022, the two nations – St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Panama, will be celebrating the 30 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties. St Kitts and Nevis and Panama established diplomatic relations on November 19, 1992.
As per the government, this new appointment is a signal of an effort to make the relationship stronger with the Central American neighbour and friend. This ally will also focus on exploring new areas of cooperation, including trade, investment as well as education. The accreditation has come as the Ministry diversifies and consolidates partnerships for a post-pandemic world.
In the midst of the visit, Ambassador Tross also had interaction with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs – Marta Gordón, Minister of Panama Canal Affairs – Arístides Royo, and other senior government officials.
Ambassador Tross currently serves as SKN’s High Commissioner to Canada and will serve out of Ottawa.
She has been working in the field for many years, and she brings years of expertise and experience working in Latin American affairs, including multilateral experience gained while working at the Organization of American States (OAS).
