Under the St Lucia’s Labour Party-led administration, new decisions are to be taken to develop St Lucia’s tourism industry. Newly-appointed Tourism Minister Ernest Hilaire stated.
Last week when the new cabinet of St Lucia was unveiled, PM Phillip J Pierre gave Dr Ernest Hilaire responsibility for Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information.
Minister Ernest Hilaire highlighted and told about the areas for which he has been assigned responsibility as critical to the SLP’s plan to transform Saint Lucia and always putting the St Lucian’s first.
While talking to the reporters, Minister Hilaire said that he thought they would see a certain direction in keeping with their approach of always putting people first and causing people-centred development. Similarly, in the tourism sector, they would take new steps for development. They would like to promote community participation, people participation ensuring that tourism is more than just figures.
The Castries South MP said that creative industries would be a major area of interest for the new labour administration, and a lot of energy would be put into that area.
According to Minister Hilaire that in the last few years, that area of investment has been ‘notorious’ for favouring foreigners and instead of invest in the best interest of Saint Lucia.
Minister Hilaire said that the Saint Lucia Labour Party would be putting people first always. He certainly wants to bring forward all his experiences locally, regionally, and internationally in those areas and create that critical role that the government sees those agencies and the other regions as performing.
Minister Hilaire asserted that in Guibion Ferdinand, he has been assigned a Parliamentary Secretary dedicated to the task of putting people first and who would lend all his experience for them to work as a team to ensure that the ministry provides the transformational pivot that Saint Lucia needs.
