St Kitts and Nevis: In order to celebrate their landslide victory in the general election of St Kitts and Nevis, newly elected Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew announced a national holiday on Monday, August 8, 2022
While sharing a post on his social media account, PM Drew noted, “As part of the celebration for the victory of the St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party, there will be a national holiday on Monday.”
Earlier on August 6, 2022, Dr Terrance Drew took the oath of the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis and vowed to serve on the principles of respect and good governance so that the nation can be counted among others and one that everyone can all be proud of.
He added, “I fully recognize that the office of the Prime Office is one of service, and I also recognize that it is an office which I do not own but that I am at the desk of the people. During the time that I am in the office, I vow to work closely with my cabinet colleagues, with those who are in other positions in government and our citizens of St.Kitts and Nevis so that whatever issues there are we can solve it; working closely together as a federation.”
While expressing pleasure, PM Drew stated that it is a distinct pleasure to have been given the opportunity by our people to be the nation’s fourth Prime Minister.
He added, “Thanks to all once again for participating in the democratic process on Friday, August 5 2022.”
PM Drew stressed that their tears of joy, smiles, words of congratulation and expression of happiness, whether in person, via text message, phone calls or social media outreach, he has felt the love and continues to do so.
“I want you always to remember, though, that this victory belongs to all of us, and together we shall move our constituency, nation and people forward,” he added.
After the declaration of the results, Prime Minister Terrance Drew and his team celebrated their victory at St.Peter’s Constituency Office at Carifesta Village.
