Saint Lucia’s Sprint Queen Julien Alfred claims silver medal at Diamond League Prefontaine Classic

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia’s Sprint Queen and World Indoor Champion in the 60 meters, Julien Alfred added another medal to her bag as she claimed silver medal in the women’s 100m sprint at the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, May 25.

She claimed the medal by winning the race at an excellent time frame of 10.93 seconds and missed out on an opportunity to win a gold medal by just a time difference of 10 seconds. As, Sha’Carri Richardson, a World reigning Champion won the gold medal, crossing the finish line in impressive timings of 10.83 seconds.

Following the victory, Julien expressed her gratitude to God that she finished her race on a healthy note.  However, she expressed her desire of winning the gold medal but nevertheless she stated that she will take silver medal for now. Julien Alfred further added that she will work on her ending as she got panicked a little at the end and was not able to complete the race in first position.

Julien Alfred also remarked that she is now eyeing the Olympics and is trying her best to focus on her weaknesses and enhance strengths. She further asserted that she is not putting any kind of pressure on her and is trying her best to focus on her health which gives herself a grace and optimism about her next and prestigious tournament.

Julien Alfred is an inspiration to several young athletes who are aspiring and working hard to turn their aspirations into reality.
