Saint Lucia: Youth Development and Sports Minister Kenson Casimir was on hand to receive a contribution from Taiwan Ambassador Peter Chen towards recovery efforts at the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School, coordinated by Principal Etheline Leonce.

Saint Lucia: Youth Development and Sports Minister Kenson Casimir was on hand to receive a contribution from Taiwan Ambassador Peter Chen towards recovery efforts at the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School, coordinated by Principal Etheline Leonce.
The institution was negatively impacted by flash flooding occasioned by heavy rainfall on 6th November 2022 (Sunday). Youth Development and Sports Ministry of Saint Lucia has furthermore announced that clean-up efforts continue, and it is uncertain when a clear date for re-opening the school will be determined.
Minister Casimir expressed deep-felt gratitude to Ambassador Chen for the donation, and Taiwan’s continued support in several spheres in Saint Lucia, including agriculture, culture, education and sports.
The government of Saint Lucia and the People’s Republic of China has been working collectively for the betterment of both the nations. Earlier, the People’s Republic of China (Taiwan) Embassy in Saint Lucia shared an update regarding the newly hosted Programme by the Ministry of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs.
“The Handover Ceremony of care packages in support of the “MSME Private Sector Staff Support Intervention Programme” was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs,” stated the ministry while informing.
Emma Hippolyte, Minister of Commerce, Manufacturing, Business Development, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs, said, “Taiwan’s support is timely for those MSMEs suffered from the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative targets 5,000 staff at the lower income levels and 3,000 owners of micro, small as well as medium enterprises to sanitize their immediate domestic and business environment to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.”
