Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Sports Academy is on its way to CARIFTA 2023 in the Bahamas. The delegation of the academy will consist of four pole vaulters and two coaches connected to the school.

According to the update by the Sports Academy, it is making a mark in Athletics with all the participants. The delegation will include Coach Makeba Alcide (SLSA Physio and SLAA Public Relations Officer); Naya Jules (Form 4 student and competitor in the women’s pole vault); Arthur-Lee William (SLSA Graduate and men’s pole vault competitor); Jeremiah Felix (2022 Carifta Silver Medalist, former SLSA student and trains at SLSA); Tedre O’Neil (form 4 student who will be representing Saint Vincent and the Grenadines); and Coach Andy Behl (SLSA Assistant Programme Director, Pole Vault Coach, and SLAA 2nd Vice President).

Many Saint Lucians congratulated the athletes and expressed pride towards them for representing the country at the international level. One of the social media users named Mary Charles, took it to the comment section, and wrote, “All the best to you all from Barack Mom God guidance and protection its a win, win.”

While another named Delia Charles stated, “Great to see you all. All the best…..great expectations…..shine….shine…shine.” In addition to this, the third user named Alphar William, said, “Deep in my heart, they are already winners.”

The 50th CARIFTA Games 2023 is around the corner and will commence from April 7 to April 10 in Nassau, The Bahamas. The games will be hosted at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium. The sporting event will gather participants from all the Caribbean countries, who will showcase their talents in their respective games.

Recently, on April 4, 2023, the calendar of events was launched by the 50th CARIFTA Games through its official social media handle. A total of nine (9) events will be held during the 50th edition of the Games.

As per the update, the Opening Ceremony of the event Games will be held on April 7, along with the Good Friday Production/Concert. On April 9, Women in Sports Tea Party Brunch and Easter Sunday Praise and Worship. On April 10, BAAA – Let’s Move Road Race and Nacac Congress will be held.

Apart from this, between April 8 and 10, three events – Competition Schedule, College Discussion (Parents’ Meeting), and Hamstring Injury Prevention will be organised.
