Castries, Saint Lucia: A team of seven members from the Lightning Aquatic Swim Club (LA) departed from Saint Lucia on Friday, January 12, to Martinique to participate in the annual Claude Sufrin Swim Meet.
It is to be noted that Karic Charles and Ethan Hazell will head the charge for LA in Martinique. It is worth mentioning that they both represented Saint Lucia at last year’s Carifta Swim Championship in Curacao.
The team was accompanied by Coach Ronald Charles, and Joanne Mills-Felicien was given the responsibility of the manager.
The swimmers are excited and curious about their upcoming event of Claude Sufrin Swim, as this is the first wide meet of this year.
“This is our first long course meet for the year, and our swimmers are eager to improve their times as they work towards qualification standards for the 2024 National Teams”, stated Tessa Charles-Louis, the President of the Club.
In 2023, Amara Reece, Aaron Charles and Fayth Lubrin represented their nation, Saint Lucia, at the 31st edition of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Swim Championship, which was held in their own homeland nation.
List of the team members
The squad for the meet includes the following,

Further to this, the trip has been sponsored by the TOGS, and the LA executive extended a vote of thanks for their partnership, which made this tour possible.

Additionally, last weekend, junior swimmers Sapphire Parks, Noah Dorville and Miles Andrew led the Seajays Swim campaign in Martinique. Noting this, they were part of the 18-member squad that competed in the annual Claude Sufrin Swim Meet on the French-speaking island.
The team was supervised by Head Coach Brian Charles and Assistant Coach John McLennon. Interestingly, the team also included four members of the Seajays Executive, along with supportive swim dads and moms.
It is to be noted that these updates have been shared by the official Facebook handle of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports-Saint Lucia. Many people expressed their delight and wishes for the participants through their comments.
