The increase in Saharan dust in Caribbean countries is likely to cause respiratory problems. According to reports, people have already started experiencing respiratory problems and allergies.
The authorities urged the nationals of the Caribbean nations to adopt precautionary measures to avoid any sickness, with a special focus on elderly adults and children.
Due to a significant increase in the Saharan Dust, the people are experiencing a low visibility in the atmosphere. Many Caribbean countries have announced an alert for the citizen’s security.
Grenada
The Grenada Meteorological Services has issued a haze alert due to a significant increase in the Saharan Dust across the country. The advisory was issued on Wednesday, noting the effects of the dust haze.
Keeping the severe conditions in mind, the officials have announced that this advisory would extend to next few days. They advised their citizens to be cautioned, especially the persons with respiratory issues such as asthma or sinuses.
The adverse dust haze is likely to affect the marines, so the mariners and sea-bathers are strictly suggested to avoid getting into the water.
St Vincent and the Grenadines
The SVG Meteorologists added that they have observed concentrations of the Saharan Dust, which could create the hazy conditions across the several areas of the country.
They urged the residents to keep sprays or inhalers with themselves to avoid any sickness. The weather reports also said that the plume of Saharan dust is expected to remain in the atmosphere for the next few days.
Trinidad and Tobago
The meteorologist provided a brief synopsis and outlook, which added mild to moderate concentrations of the Saharan dust in the atmosphere. Since weekend, the people are experiencing an increase in the dust haze across the nation.
The air quality is forecasted to remain moderate to unhealthy for the sensitive groups. Therefore, they are advised to take necessary precautions during high traffic and especially in the surrounding of fires.
The people across the various Caribbean nations expressed their concern for the increase in Saharan dust on Facebook. Some of the comments read as,
