Dominica: Parliamentary Secretary of Roseau Central – Melissa Poponne-Skerrit shared the glimpse of handing over the starter-pack school supplies as well as scholarships by the Melissa Skerrit Foundation.
The supplies were given by Melissa Skerrit to the students who are heading towards the new year of their schools on September 6, 2022 (Tuesday).
Furthermore, she acknowledged the hard work done by the 50 young scholars and the financial supporters who assisted in the way of scholarship.
Melissa Skerrit took social media, shared photographs and wrote, “September 6 marks the start of a new academic year for many of our island’s youth. And as such, I could not herald this new year in without first acknowledging the hard work of 50 young scholars with some financial support in the way of scholarships. With the patronage of MMC and the sponsorship of several generous donors and supporters, the Melissa Skerrit Foundation was able to provide these scholarships as well as 200 backpacks with ‘starter-pack’ school supplies that were distributed to numerous students and families.”
She, on behalf of her foundation and government, wished the students ‘all the best’ and anticipated that the young minds of the country continue to strive their excellence in all that they do. “We wish all of our bright young minds a successful new school year, and we encourage all of our youth to continue to strive for excellence in all that they do,” the post by the Parliamentary Secretary read.
Additionally, Melissa Skerrit thanked all the sponsors and supports, also assured that her foundation will continue to do their best to fulfil the basic needs of the children of the constituency and the island country.
“We thank our sponsors and supporters as these endeavours are not possible without you. We at the Melissa Skerrit Foundation continue to do our best to fill the gaps wherever possible to aid in the continued development of our children’s futures,” stated Poponne-Skerrit.
