Rohrman Triathlon returns to Antigua and Barbuda, elevates sport sector

Antigua and Barbuda: The Rohrman Triathlon is all set to return to Antigua and Barbuda this August by offering all the participants a plethora of experiences. It promises to offer all attendees new challenges and opportunities, giving them a platform to showcase their skills and abilities.

The Rohrman Triathlon began in 2012 with 70 athletes, and now it attracts around 400 participants. The event plays a huge role in bringing out the people’s spirit through sport, promoting healthy lifestyles, and leveraging sports tourism to benefit Antigua & Barbuda.

In addition, this year, the Rohrman Triathlon has introduced a Day 2 event with several options for participants. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, and Sunday, August 25th.

On Day 1, 24th August, the 10 triathlons will be chosen from Olympic and Sprint distances, as well as categories for different age groups starting from 6 & under. It includes both team and individual competitions, allowing the participants to showcase their talent.

On the other hand, on Day 2, the participants can choose their challenge from 8K Open Swim to 10K Road Walk or run. They also have the option of choosing either 13K or 15K Hike/Trail Run. Moreover, the athletes can choose between an approximate 10k swim from Morris Bay to Ffreyes Beach, a road run/walk, or a trail hike/run, all commencing at Morris Bay and culminating at the scenic Ffreyes Beach.

While extending welcome to the participants, the management of Rohrman Antigua and Barbuda asked the citizens to register themselves today in order to avail the exciting benefits and entertainment offered by the event.

AUA Rohrman Antigua is a triathlon festival in Antigua & Barbuda that is dedicated to the memory of the late Jonathan Rohr. He is a former triathlete and medal student at the American University of Antigua who passed away in 2011 due to a rare heart condition at the age of 25.

While emphasising on Rohr, the management stated that his extreme passion for triathlon and unwavering commitment and dedication to his medical studies had left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire athletes today.

They added that this year, the event will pay tribute to Jonathan Rohr and celebrate late co-founder Andre Simon. They stated that Andre’s contribution and dedication to the Rohrman Triathlon and to the community have been instrumental in the success and growth of the event.

“Join us in celebrating the lives and legacies of Jonathan Rohr and Andre Simon at this year’s Rohrman Triathlon on August 24 and 25th,” noted the management.
