Grade 12 students of Mindanao State University–General Santos City Senior High School showcased their product exhibit with the theme: “ASENSO sa Siklab: Advancing Student Entrepreneurship through New Strategies and Opportunities” last June 30, 2023.

The said exhibit was organized by Ma’am Cherry Mae Villota and Sir Ralph Laurence Valdueza as a culminating activity for Entrepreneurship in collaboration with other subjects, namely, Business Enterprise Simulation, Research Project, and Media and Information Literacy. It featured various trendy and innovative products from STEM 12–Euler, STEM 12–Euclid, STEM 12–Gauss, STEM 12–Riemann, STEM 12–Descartes, STEM 12–Leibniz, and ABM 12–Ford, whose entrepreneurial ideas seek to address problems and exploit business opportunities in the market.

The program started with a Muslim prayer led by Saivani Ali (ABM 12–Ford) and followed by a Christian prayer by Kitiara Ia de la Cruz (STEM 12–Euler). After the prayers, Shelou Evidientes (HUMSS 12–Comte) sang the national anthem. By then, the emcees, Mika Hamajo (STEM 12–Euler) and Lanz Dejillo (STEM 12–Euclid), hyped up everyone about all the fun and meaningful activities in store for the day.

Sir Abdul Silongan delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the importance of considering the idea of venturing into business regardless of one’s career path. After his opening remarks, different groups of young entrepreneurs were then introduced on-stage alongside their delightful treats, refreshing drinks, handmade crafts, aesthetic designs, eco-friendly materials, and technology-based equipment.

It was then followed by the message of Ma’am Jean Bergante, Senior High School Director, for the students. She emphasized that the bazaar was not pursued simply for the sake of requirements but more to acknowledge the efforts of the students in materializing their product ideas by having a mindset of an entrepreneur. Afterwards, students were more energized by the intermission number brought by the acoustic band, composed of Shana Tampac (ABM 12–Ford), Reicken Mozo (STEM 12–Riemann), Rodchael Aclao (STEM 12–Riemann), Jason Joaquin (ABM 12–Ford), and J.S. Guillermo (STEM 12–Gauss).

Following such outstanding performance was the introduction of the panel of evaluators, consisting of Ma’am Jean Bergante, Ma’am Margie Quimosing, Sir Abdul Silongan, Sir Ralph Laurence Valdueza, Ma’am Cherry Mae Villota, Sir Yancy Dizon, Ma’am Katrina Joie Buhian, Ma’am Toni Abiera, Ma’am Angela Agleham-Ayanan and Sir Monlouie Sorzano. Then, product advertisements were presented, highlighting the skill and creativity of each group of young entrepreneurs in promoting their products through the use of various concepts and multimedia tools.

To conclude the program in the morning, Ivy Lim, the owner of “Made in Moriah”, shared her personal journey in realizing her entrepreneurial ventures, gave tips on having a start-up business, and highly encouraged the students to never give up by having a good mindset when it comes to doing business.

The afternoon program started with the panel of evaluators wandering around the rooms to judge the students’ exhibit booths, business pitches, and products. Siklab young entrepreneurs presented their products with enthusiasm and determination, giving the judges wondrous smiles on their faces. Simultaneously, students of HUMSS 12–Comte also showcased their book launching in the lobby as spearheaded by Sir Monlouie Sorzano. After the book launch, Simone Emata and Angelika Trinidad of STEM 12–Descartes released their original song composition named “Kulay Ng Tadhana”, which talks about having acceptance, respect and forgiveness in an unrequited love for a friend.
