Qatar’s Foreign Minister visits Dominica: Meets PM Skerrit and President Burton, signs MOU to strengthen relations
To enhance the bilateral ties, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, earlier this week.

Roseau, Dominica: To enhance the bilateral ties, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, paid a courtesy call to the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, earlier this week. The diplomatic talks were held at the PM’s office. During his stay in the nation, he also met with Dominica’s President, Sylvanie Burton.
During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of PM Skerrit and Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar was accompanied by Yaser Awad Al-Abdulla- Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Commonwealth of Dominica, AlMuhannad Ali Al-Hammadi, Acting Director of the American Affairs Department, and other officials during the courtesy call.
PM Skerrit shared the details of the meeting on his Facebook Page, stating that the interaction “discussed opportunities for enhancing our bilateral relations”. He further highlighted that MOU has been signed with a motive to strengthen further political cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs of our two countries.
This meeting has been termed as the first round of political consultation between the Foreign Affair Ministries of both nations. Cooperation relations and ways to support and enhance them were discussed during the first round of consultation.
The MOU signing was led by Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, from the Qatari side, whereas Vince Henderson, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy, headed the Dominican side.

Also, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the State of Qatar during his visit to Dominica also had a short meeting with Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
During the meeting, both the leaders discussed about bolstering bilateral cooperation and ways to move together on the path of growth and development. The minister also conveyed greetings from Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani blessing people and government of Dominica continued progress and prosperity.
President Burton, PM Skerrit and Minister Henderson have wished continued progress, development and prosperity to the leaders of Qatar and its people.
Additionally, Dominica successfully hosted the 27th meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), which was attended by Foreign Ministers of several nations. Minister Henderson stated that foreign ministers must promote an environment that enables increased opportunities for collaboration, cooperation, and strategic partnerships. He also shared that during the two-day meeting, several critical issues to build a more resilient and thriving community for all were discussed.
