PM Timothy Harris expressed condolences to the family of 1st dead person due to COVID-19

St Kitts: Ministry of Health released new data of COVID-19 situation in St Kitts and Nevis. It also reported the 279 new active cases of the COVID-19 virus. Till now, no death has been reported in St Kitts and Nevis due to COVID-19.

1 new imported COVID-19 case has been reported in St Kitts and Nevis in the last 14 days. Till now, medical teams have tested 19431 persons for COVID-19, out of which 279 positive results have been reported, and 19,138 reports have resulted in negative, but still 14 tests are pending.

After the test, 649 people are quarantined at their residence, whereas 673 have been quarantined in the facility. 208 people are in isolation. 11,961 have been released from the quarantine. 70 people have recovered.

The health ministry also released the recommendation to prevent the spread of The Novel Corona Virus, in which it says that the virus starts from your hand, so please wash the hands regulary with soap and water or an alcohol-based solution.

Always Cover your nose and mouth with a bent elbow or tissue when you sneeze or cough. Dispose of tissue immediately and wash your hand.

Avoid touching your face, particularly your eyes, nose or mouth, to prevent the virus from entering the body.

On behalf of the government as Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris forwarded his condolences towards the family and the loved ones of the person who died after losing the battle against COVID-19.

This death has been reported as the first death in St Kitts and Nevis due to COVID-19. The announcement was made by the Minister of Health Akilah Byro- Nisbett.

 Prime Minister Harris said that it had been indeed a sad day for all of them here in St. Kitts and Nevis after learning that the dreaded Corona virus had claimed the life of one of their citizens. As Prime Minister, he expressed my profound condolences to the family and loved ones. He also wished to assure the family that his thoughts and prayers have been with them at a very difficult time.

Prime Minister Harris again reminds citizens and residents of the importance of being vaccinated against this deadly disease, noting that the vaccines “are our best weapon in this fight.”
