PM Terrance Drew visits Bayford’s Farm, aims to fulfill 25 by 25 agenda
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew made a visit to Bayford’s Farm in St Peter’s with a vision to witness the intricacies of local farming.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew made a visit to Bayford’s Farm in St Peter’s with a vision to witness the intricacies of local farming. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins, and emphasized their commitment to achieving the 25 by 25 agenda.
Notably, the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture was also accompanied by the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and a delegation from Southern University. Also, St Kitts and Nevis shares crucial partnership with SU and it was solidified in December 2023 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture.

During their visit, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew appreciated the hard work and efforts of all the farmers and expressed delight in witnessing the growth in the agriculture sector. Along with that, he also stated that such unwavering efforts by the farmers and the Ministry of Agriculture are a testament to their dedication towards reducing the food import bill by 25% by 2025.
Along with that, this visit was also a great platform for the delegates to foster collaboration with a vision to advance the skillsets of the agricultural workforce of the island nation.
While recalling his childhood memories, PM Drew noted that he is also from St. Peter’s and has spent a lot of happy childhood days at Bayford’s. He further asserted that it was his commitment to revive this place as it means a lot to the people of St. Peter’s.
“I am pleased to say that we are well on our way,” noted Dr Terrance Drew.
Also, the delegates visited the Poultry Hatchery facility that is being constructed under the Layer Chicken Industry Sustainable Development Project of St. Kitts and Nevis. While shedding light on such visits, Minister of Agriculture, Samal Duggins stated that by investing in projects like the Bayfords Livestock Farm and the Poultry Hatchery, they are creating new opportunities for employment, innovation, and food security.
Minister Duggins also noted that their collaborative efforts with educational institutions and international partners will further strengthen their agricultural sector, providing a solid foundation for economic diversification.
