Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: With a vision to defeat prostate cancer, Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis urged all the black Caribbean men 40 and above to get themselves tested in order to prevent them from such dangerous disease.
While sharing about the importance of getting prostate tested, PM Drew stated that being a black Caribbean man over the age of 40, they suffered the most aggressive type of cancer. Therefore, he motivated all men of screening age to get tested and be prepared for the upcoming health challenges.
The leader of the nation also shed light on Advisor Austin Edinborough’s journey and called it “an inspiration” who gave a reminder to all that there is still a hope despite how dangerous the path is. PM Drew noted that since the day, Austin got diagnosed with the ailment, he went through several tests and a biopsy and even also went to Cuba and eventually became cancer-free.
He further asserted that if Austin would not have gotten tested, his health would have ended up getting worse. He praised his attentiveness about his health due to which Austin is currently enjoying a healthy and lively life. While speaking about his journey, PM Drew stated that he is openly speaking about it because Austin has himself made his health history public who has also granted him the permission to speak of it publicly as well.
He stated that his journey is exceptionally motivating for all those people who are suffering from the disease and remarked that it is one of proactiveness, advocacy and fight for life which every cancer fighter requires. Therefore, he added that there are several free men’s clinic available at every health center in St. Kitts and Nevis for the Black Caribbean men 40 and above to get themselves checked.
