PM Terrance Drew to host meeting on Friday, commits to curb crime and violence
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew reiterated his commitment towards addressing growing crime and violence in the nation.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew reiterated his commitment towards addressing growing crime and violence in the nation. He has therefore announced that he will host a significant meeting with community leaders, social clubs, and non-governmental groups on Friday, 23rd August 2024.
While shedding light on the meeting, PM Terrance Drew stated that it is a preliminary engagement which will unite a diverse range of societal groups and will serve as initial stage for a national consultation and a 90-day campaign focused on citizen security.
PM Drew emphasized the importance of collective action, highlighting that this initiative will need the active participation of all stakeholders, including church and religious leaders, political parties, sports groups, social clubs, private businesses, government officials, and various community organizations.
He continued to say that this challenge of crime and violence in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis is not just a law enforcement issue but also a public health crisis. He stated that this issue is affecting every facet of the society, therefore they need to adopt a whole-of-society approach to curb this issue.
The Prime Minister also promised for respecting and hearing every voice will be heard and stated that it is not just a government initiative but a national effort towards addressing crime rate. He further asked every citizen of the country to put contribute towards finding the solution to the rising crime and violence.
He called out all the citizens and stated that their security is paramount to the nation’s well-being. And, for the same, he promised and ensured that his administration is continuing to make efforts with a vision to bring prosperity to the nation, ensuring safety and security of the country.
“Together, we can and must create a safer and more secure St. Kitts and Nevis for every resident,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
While emphasising the significance of collaboration and partnership, PM Drew stated that the meeting on Friday is a great platform for all the stakeholders to share their suggestions and ideas which can be used in guiding the focus and success of the upcoming national consultation and campaign.
The Prime Minister stated that he is committed to engaging all the leaders of all the political parties and other crucial groups with a vision to ensure that they all unite together to work for the development of the nation by curbing crime and violence.
Notably, the 90-day campaign and National Consultation will include a series of events and activities with a vision to address the root cause of violence and foster peace and security in the country.
