PM Terrance Drew participates in VIII Summit of CELAC meeting, discusses trade, investment
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew successfully attended the VIII Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew successfully attended the VIII Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The primary objective of the meeting was to foster economic, political, social and cultural relations between Caribbean nations and Latin America. The discussions between the dignitaries were scheduled to take place on 1st March 2024 at the Sandals Resort, Buccanment Bay of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared a few glimpses of his arrival in St Vincent and the Grenadines and updated about his arrival and said “Greetings, we arrived safely yesterday in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the VIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).”
The meeting was attended by 33 Heads and Government officials from Latin America and Caribbean nations. The discussions between delegations covered several vital topics, prioritizing the development of the Caribbean nations and enhancing the relationship between Latin American and Caribbean nations.
The discussions were held on topics such as trade and investment, focusing on enhancing the economic conditions of the region and improving the export-import business. Along with that, the dialogues were exchanged on climate change problems being faced by the Caribbean nations and the remedies to tackle such obstacles.
Crime and security, food security, migration, the Cuban blockade, poverty alleviation, Issues of peace, and South cooperation were among the other topics discussed in the meeting by PM Terrance Drew.
All the topics highlighted in the meeting were done with the motive to address the challenges and hurdles being faced by the small island nations. This meeting is hoping to bring out a productive result for all the participating nations.
Moreover, the Secretary General of the United Nations- Antonio Guterres and one of the foremost diplomats in the world also participated in the meeting and shed light on the importance of the summit in making the bilateral relations stronger between the Caribbean and Latin America.
The presence of Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew in the VIII Summit signifies his commitment and vision towards the progress of his nation. His visit to St Vincent and the Grenadines was lauded by many residents of the community.
