PM Roosevelt Skerrit extends best wishes to students for new academic year 2024-25

Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, extended the warmest welcome to all the students on their return to Schools this week for their academic session 2024-25. He wished them all the blessings and best wishes so that each and every student in Dominica aims to work hard and embrace learning with a vision to build a strong and solid foundation for their futures.

The Prime Minister called these students the future of the nation and stated that these students have the ability to become active and crucial contributors to the betterment of society. He stated that this education helps all these students shape their lives, explore their interests, pursue their passions, and find their unique voice in the world.

With the commencement of the academic session 2024-2025 on September 2, PM Roosevelt Skerrit stated that his government is committed to prioritizing the education sector of Dominica and ensuring that every individual has access to quality educational opportunities throughout their life.

The Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit stated that education must be a unified goal for mankind and with the start of this academic year, he prays for patience, strength and success for all the teachers, parents and guardians in their support of the children’s growth and wellbeing.

PM Skerrit wished a fantastic school year to everyone and motivated them to be the reason for the growth and development of the nation.

“Have a fantastic school year everyone! God Bless,” noted PM Roosevelt Skerrit.

Moreover, recently the Government of Dominica hosted a Back-to-School Program for all the students ahead of the new academic year 2024-25 on 31stAugust 2024 at the Peebles Park in Roseau.

This programme is conducted annually by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Melissa Poponne Skerrit with the support of her Melissa Skerrit Foundation.

The Foundation was established in 2016 and it receives scholarship from private sector donors, members of the diaspora, China and Government of Dominica in order to assist the foundation in transforming the lives of the students of Dominica.

And with the help of this foundation, the annual back to school programme is conducted every year ahead of academic years in order to offer plethora of experiences to all the students, providing them an entertainment filled with several fun activities, dance, music and delicious food.

Along with that, Minister Melissa Skerrit also plays a huge role in extending her support and a source of hope for the children and parents of the country in the form of providing essential supplies to the needy students.

She stated that it is her motive to elevate the people of her country and to relieve financial burdens out of them so that they can live their life comfortably and happily.

This year also, Minister Melissa Skerrit delivered around 276 backpack packages filled with essential supplies to all the students. She also recognized the top National Assessment and CXC achievers and presented tuition scholarships.

Minister Melissa Skerrit stated that the government will make every possible effort in order to provide quality education to all the students. For the same, they are aiming to create a positive and productive learning environment for all the students so that all these students can become the bright and flying future of Dominica.
