PM Philip Pierre engages in significant dialogues at 4th International Conference on SIDS

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip Pierre actively participated in the 4^th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) in Antigua and Barbuda. The leader exchanged significant dialogues with several dignitaries with a vision to address all the challenges being faced by small island developing states.

Every decade, the United Nations organizes the SIDS4 conference, which brings together leaders from 39 independent states and 18 associate members of United Nations general commissions. Along with that, it also gives a huge opportunity to all the leaders, experts, and officials from the private sector, academia, and civil society to participate in the discussions and share their views on the challenges being faced by small island developing states.

Notably, PM Pierre departed Saint Lucia on Tuesday, 28th May, and returned back to Saint Lucia from the conference on the following day. During the event, PM Pierre covered a wide range of topics such as climate change, biodiversity, access to finance debt sustainability, disaster risk reduction, and the overall sustainable development of SIDS.

The 4thInternational Conference on Small Island Developing States is being conducted under the theme “Charting the Course towards resilient property.” It provides a great platform to the leaders and stakeholders to work together and towards their common goal of sustainable, prosperous and resilient future for small island developing states.

PM Pierre has always been at the forefront in elevating the small island nation towards growth and development. For the same, he has always been vocal and has made sure that stringent policies and plans are being implemented with a vision to prosper the nation and fulfill its agenda of becoming sustainable.

During the absence of Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Youth Economy and Minister for Justice and National Security, Stephenson King acted as the Prime Minister.

After coming back from the SIDS4 conference, PM Pierre called it a productive visit and extended gratitude to the international cooperation for conducting such conferences and giving an opportunity to small Caribbean Island nations to voice out their problems.
