Basseterre: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris praised the police force of the federation for successfully tackling the crime and making the future for the residents stronger, safer and happier.
The government stated, “As part of a Team, we have been bold, united and courageous in tackling crime – creating the stronger, safer future we all deserve.”
Prime Minister Harris mentioned that there is a new and safe environment for the residents in the country.
“Generally and broadly speaking, there is a new environment of peace, safety and stability in the country. Which sometimes we take for granted,” PM Harris was quoted as.
He further recalled the horrible and unsafe nights of Basseterre and further praised the task force for bringing this to an end. He also mentioned that the country is now safer and stronger.
“There was a time when you and I listened every night; there was wailing and screaming in Basseterre, almost every night. The strip was a dangerous place to visit, and in fact, every night this business closed early, there was terrible insecurity in the land, and everyone wondered when this would end. We had achieved the dubious distinction of being dubbed the murder capital of the world.
I am happy in good time, and we were brave enough and courageous enough to do what was necessary we have been able to reverse the situation that was and to put our country in a stronger and safer place,” Prime Minister said.
Under the government’s initiative of ‘Stronger and Safer Future for All’ Prime Minister mentioned that his administration would consolidate and build on the excellent relationships between St Kitts and Nevis. He further assured the citizens to provide a better, stronger and safer future. He was quoted as “We will work more effectively with the Nevis Island Administration to deliver the Safer and Stronger Future to all-out people”.
