PM Drew unveils Climate-smart model homes, advances sustainable housing solutions

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew unveiled climate-smart model homes in Conaree and Taylor’s and officially handing over the fully furnished homes represents a step towards the sustainable housing solutions.
PM Drew, who is also elected as a Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8 attended the grand ceremony, along with other dignitaries such as governmental representatives, Cabinet Ministers, family and friends of the new homeowner.
Notably, the homes included various amenities such as a refrigerator, a gas stove, furniture, free groceries, cupboards, good tilling and one year of free internet from the Cable.

The East Coast Housing Development Limited has collaborated with the NHC to construct homes as a part of the government’s housing solution and to promote sustainable living standards. The leader of St Kitts and Nevis took the official Facebook handle to share updates with the citizens of the Federation.
“Today marked the grand unveiling of fully furnished, climate-smart model homes in Conaree and Taylor’s, representing a remarkable achievement in affordable housing.
Through a collaboration between East Coast Housing Development Ltd and the National Housing Corporation (NHC), these mark a progressive move by the St Kitts- Nevis Labour Party Administration”, PM Drew added.

He further revealed that the government has handed over the keys of newly built climate-smart model homes to the candidates of both the regions. He announced Shamarah Huggins as a proud recipient of the new home.
Moreover, he expressed his satisfaction and kept his words to transform his country for the well-being of the people. He was delighted to experience the joy of fulfilment of a collaborated vision for sustainable living by providing a total of 2400 houses.
“In a heartwarming gesture, the keys to these homes were handed over to deserving individuals- Shamarah Huggins of Conaree and Belinda Buchanan of Taylor’s. We not only witness the fulfilment of a shared vision for sustainable living but also celebrate the hope and joy these homes bring to their new owners”, the prime minister remarked.

Most importantly, these houses are able to withstand category-five hurricanes. These homes are given at very cheap prices so everybody can have access to them.
The government of Twin-Island Federation is committed to promote sustainable development and working tirelessly to address the challenges occurred by climate change. The authorities are focusing to enhance the quality of life for all the citizens.
