Peetah Morgan dies at 46, leaves fans devastated

Peetah Morgan, one of the renowned and prominent lead singers of the Reggae group Morgan Heritage passed away at the age of 46 on Sunday, 25th February, 2024. The cause of the death has not been revealed yet by the close friends and family members of the deceased.

Peetah Morgan, one of the renowned and prominent lead singers of the Reggae group Morgan Heritage passed away at the age of 46 on Sunday, 25th February, 2024. The cause of the death has not been revealed yet by the close friends and family members of the deceased.

The death of the singer was confirmed by the Grammy award winning-group itself. They took to their social media account and shared an official statement on the passing away news of Morgan.

While sharing the news, the statement of the group read “It is out of sincere love that we share that the beloved husband, father, son, and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage Peter Anthony Morgan has ascended today.”

They also requested all the fans of the singer to keep him in their prayers and respect their privacy. The group was famously known for their exciting and chartbuster songs such as Don’t’t Haffi Dread (To be rasta), Down by the River and She’s Still Loving Me.

Along with that, Peetah Morgan was one of the eminent voices of the band who sang many hits for his band and elevated it to greater heights.

Peetah Morgan is one of the 20 children of Jamaican singer Denroy Morgan. Denroy is the veteran reggae singer and father of Morgan Heritage Group.

The group was established by 5 Morgan’s siblings in 1994 and they released their first album in the same year. It won its first Grammy award in 2015 in the Best Reggae Album category in 2016. Following that, the band was nominated for another Grammy award in 2018 for their album Avrakedabra.

Moreover, Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness took to his Twitter account and extended condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

“My heart is heavy to learn of the demise of Peetah Morgan of the world-renowned Morgan Heritage. I extend my deep condolences to the Morgan family as they grieve this huge loss which is also a colossal loss for Jamaica and for Reggae Music,” wrote Andrew Holness.

All the fans of Peetah Morgan took to their social media accounts and extended condolences to the friends and family of the singer.

One person with a Facebook account commented the following “A great loss to an iconic family group of singers and musicians! May his soul Rest in Peace.”

Another person with a Facebook handle Shaka Zulu commented “RIP, I am thankful that I was able to witness his talent live. May his soul find peace.”

“Omg my deepest condolences to the band and family may he rest in eternal peace,” wrote Sparkle Trumpet.
