Opening ceremony of 47th CARICOM meeting held successfully, discusses climate change, food security
The CARICOM’s 47th Heads of Government Meeting began with enthralling opening ceremony where several delegates attended and welcomed Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell as their new Chairman.

Grenada: The CARICOM’s 47th Heads of Government Meeting began with enthralling opening ceremony where several delegates attended and welcomed Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell as their new Chairman. The CARICOM meeting began on 28th July and will be effective till 30th July 2024.
The key speakers shed light on several topics and stated that they will make all the efforts in order to lead Caribbean nation towards greater height. For the same, they asked all the member states to be united and take progressive actions and measure towards development.
On the second day of the CARICOM meeting, a business session will be conducted at Radisson Grenada Beach Resort, Grand Anse. The Grand Anse Declaration will intend to enhance economic and political cooperation among Member States, emphasizing sovereignty, non-interference and equality principles.
The final day of the CARICOM meeting will be a Closing Press Conference on 30th July 2024 at Radisson Grenada Beach Resort. The Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM is a biannual event that convenes in February and July of every year. It is the meeting of the highest organ of CARICOM where decisions that influence the community are deliberated.
Agenda of CARICOM’s 47th Heads of Government Meeting
The main agenda of this year’s meeting is to exchange dialogue on significant topics such as Agri-Food system that is to focus on food and nutrition security. The delegates will also be highlighting about the longstanding problem being faced by the Caribbean nation due to climate change and the measures that can be taken in order to lead small island developing states towards sustainable development.
Moreover, the agenda that would be the highlighting aspect of the CARICOM meeting is Foreign Policy and CARICOM Single market and economy. The leaders will also share their views on the devastating impact caused by Hurricane Beryl and the steps that can be taken in order to deal with the aftermath.
Key Discussions to be held during CARICOM’s 47th Heads of Government Meeting
The key discussions to be held among the delegates include, Multilateral Air Services Agreement: Single market for air transport. The delegates will also review the progress made toward full free movement and Food Import Reduction: Goals for 2025. Along with that they will also talk on the Regional Digital Resilience Strategy 2025-2030 in order to make Caribbean nation sustainable and resilient.
