St Kitts and Nevis: The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States(OECS) opened a job vacancy for Communication Specialists. The organization has declared the deadline to apply for the job is January 5, 2024 (Friday).

The organization has shared the details of this as well and has mentioned that only applications under the consideration of the requirements will be acknowledged. 

Emphasizing the job summary, a Communications Specialist is a technical expert who leads the visibility, awareness, and education objectives of the OECS Commission. And, the person hired as Communications Specialist will support the implementation of the organization’s communication strategy and the unit. 

Moreover, preparations of the official communication documents which include communiques and media reports for the authority are to be handled by the specialist. Additionally, the person will work with individual units and projects, graphics artists, and Multimedia Production Specialists to extract and develop the content for the organization’s newsletter and email marketing campaigns.

Further, all the coordination works, including designs, production, and publication, will be managed and undertaken by the specialist hired. Also, the promotion works, content editing and reviewing are associated with meeting the standards and guidelines of the organization.

Thereafter, planning works for activities like media sensitization sessions, exhibitors, tours or school campaigns and developing or maintaining relationships with journalists and stakeholder contacts. Further, the management of reports, decisions or results in connection with the establishment of goals related to communications come under his work.

The job summary includes some other works as well, which are as follows:

  • Developing strategic press briefs
  • Organizing media conferences
  • Recording events using digital photography and videography
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the communications unit’s Annual work plan.
  • Implementing brand guidelines for the management 

Shifting the focus towards the experience and knowledge required for the job, a person applying for the job must have a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or any related field. Also, one must have the experience minimum of 5 years in development communications, content writing, social media campaigns or digital marketing works.

Next, one should have knowledge related to branding, communication guidelines and policies of institutions like the World Bank and the European Union. And, strong knowledge of social media platforms, search engine optimization, search media optimization principles, traffic monitoring tools and digital marketing practices.

Excellent writing skills, and experience in researching and analyzing trends in media and technologies. Adding to it, one should also be able to operate audiovisual equipment (cameras or microphones). Also, should be aware of copyright rules and regulations.

  • High proficiency in grammar
  • Proficiency in French and Kweyol
  • Keen understanding of regional integration and regional matters
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
