Nicaragua to receive 7 million doses of Cuban COVID-19 vaccines
Nicaragua is expecting to receive a total of 7 million doses of the Cuban COVID-19 vaccines – Soberana 2, Soberana Plus and Abdala.

Havana, Cuba: Nicaragua is expecting to receive a total of 7 million doses of the Cuban COVID-19 vaccines – Soberana 2, Soberana Plus and Abdala.
Rosario Murillo – the Vice President and Spokesperson of Government, noted that the first shipment of around – 1.2 million doses is likely to arrive by the third week of October month in Nicaragua.
The rest two million doses of the Soberana 2 Cuban COVID-19 vaccine plus a million doses of Abdala will arrive in November, and the final vaccine shipments will arrive in the month of December.
The Vice-President asserted that “By the end of December month, the final 400,000 doses will be sent, making a total of 7 million doses expected between now and December.”
The Cuban vaccines will be designated for the immunization of children and teens between the age group of 2 and 17 years old.
The COVID-19 vaccination for this age group of 2-17 years is scheduled to begin on October 20, 2021.
Currently, the Cuban vaccines have been used by – Iran, Vietnam and Venezuela, and by Cuba itself.
Cuba has become the only nation in the world that has vaccinated toddlers with the Soberana vaccine.
The Center for State Control of Medications and Health Equipment and Implements, which regulates all the health matters in Cuba, has only certified the Soberana vaccines for use in children, not the Abdala version.
According to the COVID-19 statistics, Cuba so far has fully vaccinated 47 per cent of its population with second doses of the homegrown vaccines. On the other hand, a total of 84.1 per cent of the population has received their first jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The island country is currently having more than 900,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, while a total of 7,703 individuals have lost their lives to the deadliest virus.
