Bahamas: New COVID-19 vaccination centers to open this week on New Providence and Grand Bahama for elevation vaccination drive in the Bahamas.
The coronavirus vaccination response began on Wednesday, 17 March, following a pilot on Sunday 14 March at Loyola Hall, the south-central region of New Providence.
Vaccination drive continued at Loyola Hall, Gladstone Road, the Princess Margaret Hospital, Doctors Hospital and the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre throughout the week in New Providence.
This week there will be additional sites opening for COVID-19 vaccinations. Further medical and logistical support has been deployed to Grand Bahama to guarantee a swift and efficient rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine on that land at the Susan J. Wallace Community Center and the Rand Memorial Hospital, starting Monday 22 March.
New coronavirus vaccination centres on New Providence to open this week comprise the Church of God of Prophecy, East Street, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Base for the uniformed members and Lyford Cay Hospital.
Those qualified to receive the vaccine in this first round of D-19 vaccinations include healthcare workers, persons 65 years of age and over, citizens and staff of eldercare homes and staff of the uniformed departments, starting with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
A vaccination meeting centre for residents without access to the internet or a device will be set up at the East Street vaccination site.
The East Street vaccination site in New Providence is programmed to open on Friday, 26 March. Arrangements for that site will open on Tuesday 23 March, including online booking message.
This week, Mobile Units will also start administering vaccines to citizens and staff of eldercare apartments and the non-ambulatory on New Providence and Grand Bahama.
Starting on Wednesday, 24 March, a record of covid-19 vaccinations administered will be published weekly. Until now, in the Bahamas, more than 1,500 individuals have received a single shot of the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine.
