Trinidad and Tobago: The government of the Caribbean country has now eased COVID-19 related protocols. As per the latest notification by the authorities, all restrictions implemented at the safe zones will be removed from April 4, 2022 (Monday).
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley made this announcement during a media conference held at the Diplomatic Centre; St Ann’s on March 26, 2022 (Saturday).
While announcing the protocols, Dr Rowley announced that the COVID-19 restrictions would be lifted from April 4, 2022 (Monday).
The eased COVID-19 protocols are as follows –
– There will be no limit in the public gatherings,
– All restrictions on beaches and rivers will be removed,
– In April, schools would be re-opened for face-to-face or physical classes (details on this will be presented by the Ministry of Education next week).
As per the PM, the basic COVID-19 mandates like wearing face masks in public spaces and on public transportation will remain as it is. For the same, an updated list will be shared by the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs.
As per the announcement, from March 27, 2022, the public might enter Trinidad and Tobago with a negative antigen test and all other requirements for the country’s travel pass will remain. The government has not yet, opened doors for unvaccinated foreigners.
As per the status shared by the health ministry, the total active cases in the country are at 7,388, and the cases reported in the last 24 hours were 267. The health ministry informs that around three (3) people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus. These deaths have taken the death toll to 3,734; of these, about 258 people were fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
As per the vaccination status, between July 22, 2021, and March 23, 2022, the count of the fully vaccinated population is at 3,014, and around 14,154 people are partially vaccinated against the virus.
