Met service warns Jamaicans of heavy rainfall for next 2 days
The Meteorological Service (Met Service) has warned the Jamaicans to prepare themselves for heavy rainfall over the next two days.

Kingston, Jamaica: The Meteorological Service (Met Service) has warned the Jamaicans to prepare themselves for heavy rainfall over the next two days.
As per to the Met Service, a Tropical Wave is expected to slowly move westward across the island on Wednesday and Thursday, which will result in unstable weather conditions.
Following the statement, the Met service cited that, “As a result, the current forecast is for morning showers and isolated thunderstorms across eastern parishes, followed by cloudy afternoons with showers and thunderstorms across most parishes for Wednesday and Thursday.”
Met service stated that lingering showers are being expected, especially across eastern parishes, on Wednesday night.
The service further advised the Fishers on the cays and banks to exercise caution as sea conditions are expected to worsen in the vicinity of thunderstorms, especially in the area off the south coast.
Rainy season in Jamaica –
The wet (or rainy) season is usually around the months of July to October, and once that’s gone by, the island is left with the dry season, which means more consistent weather and less tropical rainfall.
July is the warmest month on the Caribbean island, with a maximum temperature of 91°F. In comparison, January is usually the ‘coldest’ with highs of 82°F.
The wettest months in Kingston are from September to October. Ocho Rios receives around – 37 inches of rain per year, with September and October being the wettest months. Keep in mind Jamaica seldom sees a full day of rain.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service) is a scientific division of the Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change. The Met Office is responsible for providing timely and accurate weather forecasts to the country.
Jamaica on August 18, Grace made landfall in Jamaica, bringing gusty winds up to 53 mph and very heavy rainfall, reaching 248 mm, both recorded in Kingston.
