MEP Max Orville extends condolences to families of Annecy attack victims

France, Europe: French politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Max Orville expressed dismay towards the act of terror in Annecy, France. He expressed condolence and mentioned that his support is with the families and loved ones of the victims.

MEP Orville took Twitter and conveyed his message in French, which can be loosely translated as “Terror and horror in Annecy. The abominable once again! All my support, all my sympathy to the affected children and their families.”

It has been reported that a Syrian asylum seeker has allegedly been arrested for stabbing four preschool children and an adult in a park in Annecy. The identity of the attacker has not been identified yet, but he has told Police that he is an asylum seeker in France.

According to the preliminary reports, a group of children aged around three years old was attacked by the man at around 9:45 am.

However, it has been reported that two children and another adult had been admitted to the nearby hospital and are in critical condition. French Police have claimed that initially, it was reported that six children were stabbed, but later it was revealed that four children and an adult were injured in total.

Currently, the park has been cornered by security forces and the Police of France.

French President Emmanuel Macron denounced the act. He tweeted, “Attack of absolute cowardice this morning in a park in Annecy. Children and an adult are between life and death. The nation is in shock. Our thoughts are with them as well as their families and the emergency services mobilised.”

Prime Minister of France Elizabeth Borne expressed grief and travelled to the scene of the stabbings immediately. She has also announced that a press conference will be organised at 11:30 am BST to address the situation.

French National Assembly also paid tribute to the victims by observing a minute of silence on Thursday.
