Manchester teen drowns in Alligator Pond, dies 

Kingston, Jamaica: A 17-year-old boy from Manchester drowned in an Alligator Pond on the day of Easter and died. The Police have executed their investigation regarding the matter. 

As per police reports, the victim was identified as a Nathaniel Thompson. He was a student of Alphansus Davis High School in Spalding at the Manchester, near the Clarendon border. 

The Police stated that they were informed about a teenager who drowned in the water. Unfortunately, the pond was prohibited from swimming due to an Alligator inside it. 

They immediately responded to the matter and arrived at the described location. Upon arrival, the investigating officers found the body of Thompson in the water. The divers did their best and somehow managed to pull the body out of the water. 

While speaking to the family members of the teenagers, the Police revealed that Thompson and his relatives went to an area of the popular beach known as ‘Sea Riv’ at around 10:30 am. 

The teenager went into the water to swim and got into trouble, which led to his death. 

Furthermore, the body was moved to the morgue, and the reports of the post-mortem examination are yet to be received by the officers. 

Such incidents have shaken the minds and hearts of the people. People should follow the rules made for the swimmers and should not dive into the water, which is a threat to their lives. Some parts of fun and enjoyment can put a person’s life at risk.

The news has been shared on various social media pages, and through the comments of the public, it is believed that this is not the first time that somebody has lost his life by drowning in the water. 

One such comment read, 

“Am not surprise I witness something like this 6 years ago at that same beach two person almost drowned that day, that’s not a beach that’s a sea and it always searching for blood”, quoted FB user named Shan Jada Richards. 

Another comment by the person named Cornelious Clarke mentioned, “Alligator pond is knew as a fishing beach not one to go ‘bathe’, and it’s a place where I was told the current can be very strong and that could be deadly for even good swimmer’s so have to be cautious and not go too far if you should decide to go in.”
