At the compelling incidence, Jamaican athlete Kishane Thompson, joyfully posed on the podium holding his silver medal earned in the men’s 100 meters track event of the Paris 2024 Olympic games at the Stade de France stadium.

The atmosphere at the stadium resembled the feeling as that of the run a day before, when Thompson matched 9.79 seconds to finish second, just five thousandths of a second behind the fastest man in the world for the year, Noah Lyles.

The final was again all about pace and desire where Thompson and Lyles both crossed the line at the same time. Originally the finish was so close that even the times of the athletes were measured to a thousandth part of a second.

Lyles clinched the winning position with a timing of 9.784 seconds, that was lean close to Thompson’s clocking of 9.789 seconds.

This was a landmark event for the 22-year-old Jamaican who train with MVP Track Club a club popular in training athletes for that discipline. Coming a mere five thousandth of a second shy of gold, Thompson was as close as he could have been to emulating his fellow Barbadian and Olympic sprinting legend Usain Bolt.

The Jamaicans are certainly proud of Thompson and his performance although he was not able to clinch the gold. The success he has had especially in sprints and in pressure situations make him one of the promising athletes of today as well as for near future.

Standing on the podium, the twinkling of silver medal commanded on Thompson’s neck was the symbol of victory, achievement and the success that awaits him in the coming years.

The citizens of Jamaica consider Thompson not only as the silver medalist but as the Real MVP. The rest of the world may see him as a silver medalist, but Jamaicans on the other hand have already claimed Kishane Thompson as a champion.
