Grenada: Grenada is all set to host the CARICOM’s 47th Heads of the Government meeting in St. George, effective from 3rd July and will continue till 5th July 2024. The meeting is being conducted with a vision to lead the entire CARICOM region towards growth and development, ensuring its sustainability.

The meeting will be attended by several delegates and on various topics including agri-food systems agenda in order to prioritize food and nutrition security, climate change and sustainable development, foreign policy, the CARICOM Single Market and Economy and engagement with social partners.

Along with that, the Heads of the government will also review their progress towards their aim of reducing food imports bill by 25% by 2025. The delegates will also exchange their dialogues on a strategy for Regional Digital Resilience 2025-2030 in order to foster innovation and creativity to empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for a sustainable future.

On the first day of the CARICOM meeting, the Incoming Chairman, Dickon Mitchell, the Prime Minister of Grenada will deliver his address at the ceremony which will be streamed on CARICOM’s social media platforms. During the Opening Ceremony which is scheduled for Wednesday 3 July at St. George’s University, two distinguished sons of the CARICOM region, legendary Guyanese Cricketer, Clive Hubert Lloyd and quintessential Jamaican Regionalist, Roiderick Rainford former Secretary-General of CARICOM, will receive the Order of the Caribbean Community.

On 4th July, the Heads of Government will conduct business sessions at Radisson Beach Resort, Grand Anse. It has a historically significance as it is the birthplace of the Grand Anse Declaration and Work Programme. The declaration was intended to enhance economic and political cooperation among Member States which emphasises sovereignty, non-interference and equality principles. This declaration led to the establishment of CSME, with a vision to foster economic growth, competitiveness and opportunities for citizens of member states.

On the final day of CARICOM meeting, the customary closing press conference will take place at the Radisson Beach Resort Grenada in hybrid format.
