Kimiela ‘Candy’ Isaacs created history, becomes first impaired winner of Jamaica Song Competition
Kimiela ‘Candy’ Isaacs registered a history this weekend as she became the first visually impaired winner of the Jamaica Festival Song Competition.

Kingston, Jamaica: Kimiela ‘Candy’ Isaacs registered a history this weekend as she became the first visually impaired winner of the Jamaica Festival Song Competition. Her song #One Jamaica won over the hearts and minds of the audience and helped her earn the title of the winner.
The announcement was made at the Karl Hendrickson Auditorium of Jamaica College on Saturday as she was selected as a winner through a combination of votes from public voting and judges.
After winning the competition, Isaac was awarded with $3 million dollar cash prize which she will be sharing with her team including, the performers, song writers and producer.
Out of the 10 finalists, Isaac was one of the six women to make it to the final of this year’s competition. Isaac is no stranger to success as she has been receiving several accomplishments with Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. As she claimed second position in the 2009 Jamaica Gospel Song Competition and has also been a finalist in the Festival Song Competition 2021.
Following her exceptional victory, Isaacs stated that she is overwhelmed with all the love and support which she is receiving from her supporters. She noted that it is the love and warmth which was getting reflected on her incredible journey through the Jamaica Festival Song Competition.
While shedding light on her journey she noted that it was filled with many experiences and valuable lessons. And, she could not have done it without the unwavering support of her fans and lovers.
She also extended gratitude to her family, fans and friends who believed in her and rallied behind her song #OneJamaica. She stated that she wants to thank each one of them from the bottom of her heart as their encouragement and love has been a driving force in her journey.
She also thanked God for his blessings and guidance throughout his competition. She stated that it is Almighty’s blessings, protection and grace which has been the constant source of strength for her.
“Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul,” noted Kimiela ‘Candy’ Isaacs.
