Castries, Saint Lucia: Julien Alfred once again made Saint Lucia bloomed with joy and pride as she claimed silver medal in the 200m at the Summer Olympics in Paris. With her victory, she becomes the first athlete at Paris 2024 to win two medals since the start of athletics action on 1st August.
She clocked the time of 22.08 seconds and got tough competition from American Gabby Thomas, who managed to defeat Alfred and add a gold to the bronze she took home three years ago at the Tokyo event. Thomas beat 100-meter Olympic champion Julien Alfred by 0.25 seconds and on the other hand another American, Brittany Brown claimed bronze medal, finishing the race in 22.20sec.

Recently, Alfred has registered history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by capturing the gold medal in the Women’s 100m. Her victory is the significant moment for her small Caribbean nation as she became the first-ever Olympic gold medallist from Saint Lucia. Along with her, another small island nation, Dominica also made a historic milestone in the 2024 Olympic Games, with Thea LaFond winning gold in high jump.
