A taxi operator of Jamaica who broke into a man’s house and stole two televisions valued at $66,000 has been charged with the offence of housebreaking and larceny. It is being reported that the court date for the taxi operator’s appearance has been finalised.

St Catherine, Jamaica: A taxi operator who broke into a man’s house and stole two televisions valued at $66,000 has been charged with the offence of housebreaking and larceny. It is being reported that the court date for the taxi operator’s appearance has been finalised.

The suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Franklyn Livingstone of East Road, Kingston. As per the details shared by the authorities, the victim is a resident of Silver Sun Estate, St Catherine, he securely locked his house before leaving for his work.

According to the reports, when the victim returned back to his home, he found that the suspect forced the front door lock open and entered the premises of the victim. As soon as the suspect entered the area, he stole two televisions which inlucde, 32 inches Samsung Tv valued at $33,000 and a TLC television valued at $33,000.

According to the details, the officers apprehended and charged Livingstone after taking his interview on Thursday, 30th May 2024. The incident received a lot of views and opinions from the citizens of the country following the offense, as they took to their social media accounts and expressed it through their comments. Some citizens appreciated the authorities meanwhile some people raised questions on the arrest of the suspect.

One person with a Facebook handle, Lukie Brown, commented, “I cannot understand how you can be charged at times without substantial evidence and still have to go court to find out if you have been found guilty or not.”

“Look like he’s a psycho; how can a working man do something like that? From you have the down payment, you can go to a store and take out what you want instead of stealing things, what a shame and disgrace,” wrote another user with a Facebook account, Daphne McCreath.

The residents of the community have asked the authorities to take some stringent measures to ensure the safety and security of the country. They have asked the officers to give more importance to serious offenses rather than wasting their time on baseless crimes.
