Jamaican Senator Kamina Smith expresses greeting to newly elected non-permanent members of UNSC

Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has expressed congratulations to the newly elected non-permanent members of the UNSC for 2023-2025.
Kamina Johnson has been candidature for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth 2022 from Jamaica.
She took it to Twitter to express the greeting, where she stated that, “Congratulations to the newly elected non-permanent members of the #UNSC for 2023 -2025! wishes you well as you deepen your contribution to international peace & security and indeed multilateralism.”

Notably, Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique and Switzerland were elected to the United Nations Security Council as non-permanent members for the 2023-2024 term & will substitute India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico as well as Norway at the horse-shoe table from January 1 in the coming year.
The 193-Member UN General Assembly has conducted elections on Thursday to elect the five(5) non-permanent members for the two-year term 2023-24.
For two seats in the Western Europe & other States category, Switzerland (187 votes), as well as Malta (185 votes), were elected, for two seats in African and Asia-Pacific States Mozambique (192 votes) and Japan (184 votes) were elected and for the one seat in the Latin American and Caribbean States category, Ecuador was elected with 190 votes.
