Jamaica is in danger zone & We are not free to be irresponsible: PM Holness 

Jamaica: Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness advised people to be not irresponsible in this COVID-19 pandemic time.

Jamaica is in crisis, and there is a rise in COVID-19 cases latitude which is the major concern of the leader as well as the citizens.

PM Andrew Holness stated, “We all are free people in Jamaica; however, We are not free to be irresponsible, with a great freedom, it comes a huge responisbility, more than a compulsion, more than a duty, but a duty to follow the fundamental law, we are now in danger zone, and number will continue to rise, it is the nature of the pandemic, but if we donot get this number down, then there are chances that mortality rate will also go rise.”

 In order to rectify this battle of coronavirus, the government needs to be more stringent. If the number will not get back to normal, then the government has to take other stringent measures.

However, the Covishield- Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines landed at the Norman International Airport this afternoon and were obtained by PM Holness and Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, and the Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Rungsung Masakui.

PM Holness acknowledged to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the people of India for this donation of 50,000 Oxford AstraZeneca.

The Covishield vaccine was manufactured in a collaboration between Oxford University and pharmaceutical company Oxford AstraZeneca. It is produced by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India. These vaccines are approved by the WHO.

The arrival of vaccines is a weapon for the battle of COVID-19 but is not the terminal of the fight. People need to be more careful and strive together to fight this battle against lethal coronavirus. PM urges that It should be clear to all Jamaicans that we have now entered a new phase in the pandemic.

Furthermore, PM Holness added, too many of us have not been properly wearing our masks, sanitizing and maintaining social distance. We are now seeing two factors at play. The most important thing that every well-thinking Jamaican can do is strictly observe all the protocols.
