Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has expressed wishes on the occasion of “World Environment Day”, which was held on June 5.

Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has expressed wishes on the occasion of “World Environment Day”, which was held on June 5.
Kamina Johnson has been candidature for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth 2022 from Jamaica.
She took it to Facebook to express wishes, which noted that, “Today we celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay2022 under the theme ‘Only One Home’. More than ever, we must continue to adopt best practices for sustainable living and encourage habits that reduce our carbon footprint.This is our home, let’s all do our best to protect it #KJSforCSG.”
About World Environment Day-
World Environment Day (WED) is observed every year on June 5 and is the United Nations’ principal route for raising awareness and action for saving the environment.
First marked in 1973, it has been a platform for increasing awareness on environmental problems such as aquatic pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development as well as wildlife crime.
World Environment Day is a worldwide platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 nations annually. Every year, the program has provided a theme and forum for businesses, non government organizations, communities, governments and celebrities to advocate environmental issues.
Meanwhile, in 2022, Sweden is the host of World Environment Day. Being the most, and Sweden is celebrating the World Environment Day this year. Furthermore, the theme of World Environment Day 2022 is ‘Only One Earth.’ All official affairs will take place in Sweden.
The idea behind the theme of ‘Only One Earth’ is to note the world’s togetherness on the path of creating an atmosphere conducive for peace, harmony, prosperity and health by saving nature and life.
At the same time, the policy of the theme is to create and adopt a lifestyle which should be pollution-free and full of green land. The moto is still similar as it was 50 years ago to protect the mother nature. This planet is our only home & we should save it for the coming generations.
