In today’s time, where so many weird things are happening, how strange it would feel if one came to know that by 2050, men will become infertile.
Unfortunately, this can be true to a great extent as it is believed that 41% of men will not be able to have kids by 2045-50. It means they will be infertile to take their generation forward.
This is because some men have no semen in their sperm at all, which is called Azoospermia. Notably, according to a study co-authored by Swan in 2017, sperm counts in the Western world have fallen by 59% between 1973 and 2011.
If sources are to be believed, it is said that by the time we reach 2045, the sperm count is expected to be zero.

It is to be noted that 80% of the size of the testis is devoted to sperm production. Men with bigger apricots tend to produce more sperm.
Normal sperm count ranges from 15-200 million per millimetre of semen. A man should be considered to have a low sperm count if he has fewer than 15 million sperm per millimetre or less than 39 million sperm total per Ejaculation.
Even if a man has enough semen in their sperm, there are still other factors as well to achieve pregnancy, as only one healthy sperm is needed among the billions of sperm to get pregnant.
These factors include Normal sperm movement or motility and overall sperm health.
The main factors that cause this serious problem are the modern-day destructive habits such as:
- Too much Ejaculation
- Excess drinking of Alcohol
- Eat too much junk food
- Lack of exercise
- Hormonal Imbalance
- excess of Masturbation
- Poor Sperm Motility (Asthenospermia)
- Abnormal Sperm Morphology (Teratospermia)
Infertility is a condition with medical and psychological implications resulting in trauma or stress.
Notably, the WHO (World Health Organization) underlined that infertility is a disease of the reproductive system which can be defined by a failure to achieve clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.
Considering the sources, it is acknowledged that over the past 50 years, human sperm counts appear to have fallen by more than 50% around the globe.
Know the infertility in men with poor sperm count
– Man needs a good erection to penetrate the vagina to deposit sperm
– If a man feels any pain with Ejaculation
– Man should have about a half teaspoon to teaspoon of ejaculate, and anything less, there may be a blockage
– Ejaculation colour should be pearly white
Effect of Smoking and Alcohol
Sperm is vulnerable to excessive heat and toxic chemicals. Notably, men who smoke cigarettes are more likely to have low sperm counts.
Heavy Alcohol can lead to reduced testosterone production, impotence and decreased sperm production.
Ways to make a man more fertile
There are some ways to have higher testosterone levels and better semen quality than inactive men, such as,
– Eat diets rich in fresh dark vegetables and fruits
– High protein diet
– Diets rich in Polyunsaturated fats, like tree nuts
– Man should move (walk) 30 minutes a day or more
– Over 6 hours sleep at night
– Zinc-rich foods such as fish, meat, chickpeas, eggs, sesame seeds etc
– Regular exercise
– D-aspartic acid supplement (2.7 grams for three months)
– Get enough Vitamin C
The decline in sperm count is particularly frequent in Western countries, for instance- Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe.
Notably, in 2022, a meta-analysis reported that this decline extends to non-western countries like Central America, South America, Africa, and Asia.
